All you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

Samsung has added two new phones to its Galaxy A series, the Samsung Galaxy A52 and the Samsung Galaxy A72. Among the Galaxy line-up, the A series lies in the midrange between the S series and the M series. While the S series consists of high-end models with notable features and excellent functionalities, the M series includes phones which are rather focused on value-for-money. The A series strikes a balance between the two and these models are a viable option for those seeking a midrange device. Let us check out the features of the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and see if this model is better than its predecessors in the Galaxy A series.

Looks and finish

This model flaunts a relatively unique build which makes it stand out from the rest. The matte finish of the body gives the phone a classy look and mitigates the chances of fingerprint marks. The phone is available in four different shades: Awesome Blue, Awesome Violet, Awesome Black and Awesome White. While the blue and white shades are flashy, the remaining two are rather subtle.

Design

The display comes with thin bezels on the sides and a slightly thicker chin. The power buttons and the volume buttons lie on the right side of the body while the left side is smooth, devoid of any buttons or slots. The secondary microphone and the SIM tray are positioned at the top edge of the phone. The bottom edge offers a 3.5MM headphone jack, a loudspeaker and a USB Type-C port. One of the notable advantages of this model is its waterproofing capabilities. Rated IP67, it comes with a rubber seal placed around the SIM tray.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G comes with a single 32MP camera on the front and a quad-camera setup at the back. The 64-megapixel primary camera is assisted by a 5-megapixel depth sensor, a -megapixel macro camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Pictures taken using the rear camera show average display quality. While the pictures look quite good on the device’s screen, the quality drops a bit while viewing them on a larger screen. The rear camera does take close-up shots quite well, with every detail prominently visible.

The front camera is quite good and delivers high quality images. Even in low light, selfies taken using this camera are quite crisp and the noise reduction function works well. One of the best features, however, is the scene optimiser. It accurately detects the objects that the camera points at and accordingly adjusts the scene. The scene optimiser functions fast and accurately enough to eliminate the need for manual intervention in most cases.

Display

The 6.5-inch screen is large enough to deliver a good experience while watching movies or gaming. The Super-AMOLED display offers a 90Hz refresh rate and full HD+ resolution. The picture quality of the display would not disappoint you either. The display is particularly bright in outdoor conditions, which eases up using the device under sunlight. The great sound quality that the stereo speakers deliver is an added bonus.

Performance

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor powers the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G, which delivers quite a smooth performance for a midrange phone. You may play high-end games such as Call of Duty Mobile with the graphics settings set at high quality. During the performance tests, the device did not display any signs of lag while playing such heavy games. The high display quality and frame rate augments the performance too.

Battery and charger

The 4500 mAH battery offers a backup that would last for about a day and a half with average usage. In an HD video loop test, the battery lasted for 17 hours and 47 minutes. This score is quite good and the battery should be able to cover the requirements of most users. Although the device is compatible with 25W charging, it comes with a 15W charger. You may, however, use an adapter of your own for faster charging.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a well-balanced phone that would cater well to the usage requirements of most smartphone users, including gamers. While several of its competitor models do offer better performance, most of them lack the IP67 waterproofing that this model offers. Evidently, this handset offers an optimal value for your investment.
